A Stop in Phoenix...
Just landed in Phoenix and about to board another plane to Tampa. Not a whole lot of green here in Phoenix. The airport is nice, though. But there is some bad news. My iPod died.
Right before a 4-hour flight.
Fantastic.
Getting ready to fly home...
I'm at Gate 26 at San Francisco Int'l Airport waiting to board my flight to Phoenix. They US Airway gate attendant at the neighboring gate just called over the loud speaker announcing someone had left their bag unattended and if they don't come get it they're going to call the police. I sure hope they don't end up evacuating the gate...Monday, June 02, 2008
Arriving in San Francisco...
Boarding the flight to San Francisco was a challenge. Not for me, but for more than half the passengers who couldn't speak English. All sorts of foreigners: people from India, China, Europe... When the flight crew was called 'zone 1' and first class passengers to board, all of the foreigners got up and stood in line. The airline officials were getting frustrated, sending people back and telling them to wait until their zone was called. One European man in a strong accent and broken English approached the US Airways official "What are these zones you speak of?"
I'm staying at The Palace Hotel in San Francisco. That's the hotel the Hearst Foundation put us all up in. It truly lives up to its name. Check out the hotel's website here.
Silent Film to Vegas...
Flight from Tampa to Vegas wasn't too bad... The in-flight movie was Fool's Gold, which I would have liked to have seen... er... heard, rather. You know the little jack where you plug your headphones in and then you can change the channel and adjust the volume? Well my buttons were broken. It was stuck on channel 3 -- some R&B hip-hop crap. I needed to get to channel 11 or 12. I pushed as hard as I could, but neither the channel change or volume arrow buttons would work. As a silent film, I give it a C. If someone with US Airways is reading this, you may want to check out the audio control buttons on flight 438 in seat 22C.Flew over parts of the Grand Canyon... and if you've never flown into Vegas before, it's true... there really are slot machines as soon as you get off the plane.
I've got an hour until my flight leaves for San Francisco, so I'm going to grab some lunch. At least I hope they're serving lunch... it's not even 11 AM here...
